Reading progress update: I've read 13 out of 672 pages.

Classical Mechanics - Herbert Goldstein

How much of this do I have to read? How much can I skim or skip altogether? I need the stuff in Chapters 2 and 8; Chapter 12 looks interesting on its own account, regardless of what I need for that Dirac book.

This book is quite old - my brother bought it in 1984 - and it looks jarringly old-fashioned: Equations labelled as Chapter-number (e.g. 1-19) not Chapter.number (e.g. 1.19) look really weird.
