Shakespeare and the Goddess of Complete Being - Ted Hughes

Interesting discussion of Shakespeare's vocabulary (~25,000 words to Ben Jonson's ~12,000) and how he defines unfamiliar words in older language immediately after using them, thus entertaining the educated elite without losing the uneducated groundlings. Fails to take into account that Jonson would just put heaps of Latin in and not care if the groundlings understood or not...
