The Ring of Solomon, Jonathon Stroud

The Ring of Solomon - Jonathan Stroud

Bartimaeus the snarky, wise-cracking, self-aggrandising djinn is back for a...prequel! Set in the time of Solomon and tackling familiar issues of slavery and freedom and abuse of power, this book starts quite slowly and suffers the problem the original trilogy ran into; Bartimaeus is so bad-ass, cool, fun and funny that time spent following any other character is dull by comparison.

Really, Mr. Stroud, if you ever return to the tales of Bartimaeus, don't bother with anybody else's viewpoint.
