What Is Life?: With Mind and Matter and Autobiographical Sketches - Erwin Schrödinger, Roger Penrose

Food, energy and entropy: a confused mess in which it's argued that we eat not to gain energy but to lower the body's entropy - then he admits that's wrong, we do derive energy from food and this is essential. The fact is both are true - we consume energy to live and that energy must be input at lower entropy than that of the body to be useable. Also doesn't mention we eat to maintain a necessary supply of atoms to replace those lost through breathing, excretion, etc.
