The Best of Kim Stanley Robinson - Kim Stanley Robinson

Translator. The first aliens (short) story I can remember from KSR. It feels quite old fashioned, like Asimov or more likely Clarke could have come up with the plot - but it's good and the writing  style is all KSR.
